Exotic and endangered animals have always held a fascination for mankind. Since The Wild Animal Sanctuary saved its first captive exotic animal – a Jaguar named “Freckles” - in 1980, many news and magazine articles have been written, and many TV and radio interviews have featured TWAS and the animals it has rescued over the years.

The Sanctuary has been featured in Reader’s Digest, http://www.rd.com/your-america-inspiring-people-and-stories/wild-animal-sanctuary/article41092.html, and also on Animal Planet’s “Growing Up Black Leopard,”

You will also find a very interesting story about one of the Sanctuary’s Tigers who was taken to the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital for a groundbreaking surgery: http://www.cvm.missouri.edu/news/sulley07.htm.

A good way to enjoy stories about the Sanctuary is to view our newsletters archived over the past few years, by clicking on Pictures & Newsletters.

We’ll update this page as news stories and articles about The Wild Animal Sanctuary are published.
