Schools

We love having school classes, scouts and youth groups visit The Wild Animal Sanctuary! When young people visit and learn about the Captive Wildlife Crisis and the Sanctuary’s work to address it, we are planting the seeds that will bear fruit in the consciousness of future generations…that these majestic animals are not “pets”… that they are not products… and that they are not entertainment. They are some of the most magnificent creatures on Earth, and for that, they deserve our respect.

School classes, scouts and youth organization visits are scheduled Monday – Saturday, at: 10:00am, 12:00 noon, and 2:00 pm. Groups must make reservations in advance, by calling 303-536-0118.

We will send out information about TWAS in advance of your visit, along with rules and regulations for visiting. For youth visits, the Sanctuary requires ONE Adult per every 3-5 Students. Youth groups are welcome to bring a picnic lunch, just let us know when you make your reservation.

For students K-12, after they have visited, we ask that their teachers have them write a page telling about what they learned during their visit, and if so inspired, what they can do to help the animals. These pages are then mailed back to the Sanctuary. The students’ stories and drawings are charming…and, they also help us with funding for our Education Program.

If your school, scout or youth group is not in Colorado, but still wishes to learn about and help the captive wild animals, we are happy to discuss with teachers how classes in locations remote to the Sanctuary can get involved. The internet, power point presentations and DVD’s about the Sanctuary’s animals have made it possible for students to learn about the Captive Wildlife Crisis, no matter where they live. Students as far as thousands of miles away from the Sanctuary have raised awareness, done fundraisers and adopted animals via our Animal Adoption Program.

If you have questions or would like to discuss ideas about how your class, school, home school, scout or youth group can get involved in learning about and helping the animals at The Wild Animal Sanctuary, please give us a call at 303-536-0118 – we’d love to hear from you!

Because we are a nonprofit organization with 200+ very hungry mouths to feed, we do not have group rates.
